The Crab is a learning and gathering pavilion on the beach near Lennox Head. A weathered sculpture in the landscape, long deck arms extend out from the main space as if they are being blown back by persistent ocean winds. The building looks at the idea of the exoskeleton in crustaceans acting as both structure and protection. It sits as part of the Linnaeus estate where HGA worked with project Architect Phil McMaster.
