Linnaeus Estate, 7 Mile Beach

Linnaeus Estate sits on 1.5 kms of beach front, situated on 111 Hectares of pristine wilderness bound by nature reserves and a Marine National Park. The estate has a range of accommodation, dining rooms, educational spaces, performance spaces, pool/gym/tennis and ‘the crab’ and is based on two educational streams, ‘the arts’ and ‘the environment’. The project is full of reclaimed materials which became the ‘skeletons’ of the larger non-residential buildings on the site.
Integral to the operation of the estate is conservation of natural resources, orderly and economic use of land, and protection of native animals, plants and habitats. The estate is managed on ecologically sustainable development principles. Residents act as custodians for the rich biodiversity of the estate and ensure that the integrity of the sanctuary is preserved for future generations.
